Review! Dallas, Texas // Vietnamese-Mexican Restaurant // innovative & frequently mentioned in foodie circles
the ELEVATOR PITCH
Not sure if using an eponymous name was the best choice for their Vietnamese-Mexican fusion concept, but their photogenic menu platters really strike that “food porn” chord and are extremely cravings-inspiring (example below)!
The owners, Cristina Mendez and John Pham, do such a stunning job crafting the marriage of Vietnamese and Mexican cuisine—offering phodillas and Viet chicken enchiladas, carne asada bao buns and ramenrritos, horchata and Thai tea, etc. etc. I would totally come back to try the rest of their menu. 🤤

what I had from the menu~
honest reviews coming at you 👇
Horchata: cinnamon rice milk made fresh in house!! Really good, I could taste the distinct flavor imparted by the rice, but after a couple of sips the sweetness was a little too much for me to finish the entire drink. May have preferred the one from Tortas Ahogadas El Chivito just because that one felt refreshing and less sweet/more tastefully sweet in comparison. (rating: 8/10)

Birria Tacos: the quesabirrias weren’t as good as the ones from Tortas Ahogadas El Chivito, but! THE BROTH here is so flavorful and delicious, and 10x better than the one from Tortas Ahogadas El Chivito, which I felt like didn’t really add anything to the quesabirrias. (rating on just the quesabirrias: 7/10; rating with the pho broth: 9.5/10)
