Vegas Wok
Review! St. Louis, Missouri // Chinese restaurant // must-try
the ELEVATOR PITCH
A hole-in-the-wall that is so so very unassuming… but after walking in and seeing the down-to-earthness, I instantly felt a wave of nostalgia to the days I would visit family in Shanghai and we'd buy a quick—but DELICIOUS—meal at one of the many small restaurants lining the street.
As we waited for our food, it was cool to observe how Vegas Wok seemed to be the go-to spot for students in the area or anyone looking for authentic & affordable good eats. When we were there, my brother and I spotted a university men's tennis team getting post-training nourishment, a young basketball player waiting for friends, and mid-20’s individuals enjoying a quiet meal alone.
Their menu is also very reflective of the diverse customer population they attract: they offer a variety of American-Chinese and authentic Chinese options (there's even a menu straight up in Chinese cursive!). The entire experience made me feel like I was dropped into a restaurant in China.
If I ever lived in the area, this would definitely be a place I'd frequent 😋
