Review! Charlotte, North Carolina // American restaurant // all looks, no substance

The ELEVATOR PITCH

She’s that all-American girl who has a Parisian street cafe vibe (black & white awning, rattan bar stools, gold & walnut wood accents, sign me up for a baguette and the Eiffel Tower!) from head to toe, and is probably a suitable candidate if you’re looking for a summer fling. But all year round? Not enough substance for that steady relationship (not to mention there’s no indoor dining, so be prepared to brave the elements).

Get to know her, and you’ll find that milkbread has some solid colorful and flavorful salads (the ginger dressing does indeed taste like there’s real ginger inside), but the doughnuts aren’t as good as Krispy Kreme and the fried chicken sandwich is not even close to Chick-Fil-A’s (come here to see what dry & tough tastes like). 

Again, if you’re looking for eye candy, milkbread makes for a great photo op, but if a culinary experience is on the itinerary, you’d be wise to look elsewhere first.

logistics // only 5-6 spots available at the storefront, if those are full, there’s street parking in the neighborhoods behind

vibes // a walk-up window service-type restaurant with only outdoor seating available, so make sure you check the weather beforehand (they do have table umbrellas to mitigate some rain + shine). Grub provided is super casual and all in to-go containers.

amenities // 2 public bathrooms; a little on the smaller end, but aye, it’s not the bushes!
