Lenôtre Paris
Review! Tempelhof-Schöneberg, Berlin // patisserie + viennoiserie + boulangerie // WHOA
the ELEVATOR PITCH
Lenôtre Paris sits on the 6th floor of KaDeWe looking like one of the classic, black & white, Audrey Hepburn photos: full of sophistication, elegance, and beauty. Lenôtre is prim, she's proper, she's poise, she's a renaissance woman. There's nothing she won't do: from elaborately and precisely decorated patisserie cakes done up like a well-plucked, drawn-in eyebrow to an innovative and fresh viennoiserie selection styled like a celebrity's hairdo for the Met, is there anything out of her wheelhouse?

Her Parisian roots make her eternally relevant, but that also makes it hard to find a table to enjoy your pastries if you're trying to dine in her presence. We ended up buying our pastries to go and eating them at the Einstein Kaffee on the perimeter of the building.
We ordered the:
Pain tout Chocolat // a triple chocolate twist on the classic Pain aux Chocolat with a dark chocolate laminated dough and a shimmery chocolate shell... not too bitter, not too sweet, with the chocolate taking the stage, front and center.
Bicolor Croissant Himbeere // the stripes added a wow factor visually, but were sticky to the touch. The raspberry cream filling was a good balance of sweet and tart, and filled the entire croissant cavern—a characteristic that always makes me happy when enjoying a filled croissant!

Mandel // also known as an almond croissant, was too flat and soggy for my liking... I prefer my almond croissants structured and crisp.
Franzbrötchen // essentially a flattened cinnamon roll with a subtle sweetness and a texture that's more bready than flakey. This is a classic item in most Bäckerei's in Germany, so don't go specifically to Lenôtre Paris this one. (pictured in far back in bottom photo)
