the ELEVATOR PITCH
I kind of think I should take at least 70% of the credit for Sean’s discovery of Croissanterie, for if it weren’t for my chiding, he’d still be gushing to everyone about how great the Lidl pastries are in Berlin, to which the only thing my brain could do is be flabbergasted at how this opportunity to study abroad was wasted on him (like, how could you be walking distance from 20 different bakeries that are cranking out fresh croissants every morning and still be eating pastries from Lidl?!).
So of course, I had to see this place for myself (meanwhile, I learned it’s not as easy to find croissants as I had thought, so maybe I can’t give Sean too much crap). On one of the days I was visiting, we intentionally woke up a little earlier (arrived at 10:30 AM) but that still wasn’t early enough! They had already sold out of a lot of their baked goods (I was devastated!), so we got one of each of what was left: hazelnut croissant, plain croissant, and a savory croissant with salami, a mild cheese, roasted tomatoes, and sauteed bell pepper with feta (chef’s kiss! I love a good savory croissant). As for drinks, we ordered a matcha latte and a chai latte. Final conclusions can be found in the RÉSUMÉ.

the RÉSUMÉ
address // Pannierstraße 56, 12047 Berlin, Germany
If you Google “Croissanterie,” a lot of options pop up in Berlin. These are not affiliated with this Croissanterie, so make sure you select the one on Pannierstraße!
operations // Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM; Saturday - Sunday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
vibes // rustic interior; classy mom + pop (vs. like the every-other-corner Bäckerei that you can spot in Berlin), where you can tell they care about presentation, innovative flavors, etc.
menu // beverages: espresso + matcha, chai lattes, juice & smoothies; eats: croissants + open-faced croissant sandwiches; loaf cakes, yogurt bowls
prices // 2€ - 7€
final verdict // the croissants were good, but I enjoyed Albatross, La Maison, and Lenôtre Paris more (although I would come back for the savory, open-faced croissant!). The flavors of the beverages were underwhelming for me (maybe it’s because I have an American palate?); the taste test scored about 70% milky and 30% matcha/chai.
must-try // an open-faced croissant
site // no website, but you can find them on Instagram: @croissanterie_neukolln
