Boudro's Texas Bistro (on the Riverwalk)
Review! San Antonio, Texas // New American restaurant // upscale dining
the ELEVATOR PITCH
Confession, I totally came here for the ever popular tableside guacamole presentation and not for much other reason 😆 (my honest reviews are below) video of the experience on Instagram:
I also attempted to be an outdoor diner, but my idyllic image of dining near the river immediately got shattered when the reality of persistent wasps and ducks pecking at my leg wooshed away all of the romanticization, and I ended up retreating indoors 🙃 but the servers were so understanding and didn’t give me a hard time about switching dining areas!
Overall, not a must-visit restaurant, but it’s a cute place if you’re looking for slightly more upscale dining that isn’t super duper fancy.

now real talk on the food 👇

Guacamole for Two: made with their mesquite grilled tomatoes and orange juice right next to your table fresh (this is what’s put them on the map!), it was cool to experience it but when it came to the guac flavor itself, I liked my own more! I just prefer a more lime-forward guac, while this one was on the mild side of flavor, with the avocado taking front and center. (rating: 6/10)

Seared Scallops: with white pozole, red pepper vinaigrette, and cilantro oil (didn’t taste too cilantro-y, which is just a note for those who don’t like cilantro), this starter was a BANGER. The scallops were super tender and felt like I was eating a melty steak. Well flavored, and I really enjoyed the pozole and all of the vinaigrette sauces melding together. Would get this again! (rating: 10/10)
